University Of Elhadji Ibrahim Niass

On June 13, 2003, the University of Elhadji Ibrahim Niass was inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Senegal. The University’s Medical School in Dakar, Senegal is the first private medical college in the nation. Shaykh Hassan Cisse is Chairman of the Board of the institution named for his grandfather, Shaykh Ibrahim Niass, whose scholarship and humanitarian work is known throughout the Islamic world and beyond.The Medical School is part of the medical network of the St. Christopher College of Medicine with campuses in the United States and the United Kingdom. The five year program conducts classes in English and French. The University Elhadji Ibrahim Niass Medical School diploma is recognized in the United States and by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The University opened with a wide variety of courses and facilities that include classrooms, conference rooms, computer equipment, telemedicine capabilities for remote teaching and a library. Plans for the development of schools of Agriculture, Information Technology and Islamic Studies are in progress and are already attracting students from around the world who know of Shaykh Ibrahim Niass’ erudition and deep insight into the Sufi understanding of Islam and its application for the benefit of humankind.
